Public Relations Ministry Report
Joyce Moeller, P.R. Director
November 2008

Ministry Summary
The P.R. Council Ministry continues to provide support to all ministries and subcommittees, as well as raising TLLC's visibility in the neighborhood and community.
Ministry and Committee Activities (The P.R. Ministry Committee met November 13):
Web Site -- Carolyn Getting and staff request that the Web site calendar be used for listings and changes instead of the Google calendar (via Cathey Arnold to the Web Site Steward). This version has a "click through" feature and is printable, plus it is easier to input information.
The Butterfly Newsletter - Important deadlines: '08 Annual Reports from Council directors, December 1. January '09 Butterfly, December 12. It is recommended that the upcoming new Council members be given an overview regarding how to submit information for the newsletter, bulletin, and E-blasts in a timely manner.
Other Publications -We are expecting the arrival of the new directory supplement in December. Watch the bulletin for arrival. A CDC information packet will be designed and assembled for CDC inquiries during summer, with revisions each year. Janice Daily will discuss this plan with the CDC directors.
E-Blasts - New procedures are now in effect as approved by Council on October 21 (official Procedure follows).
Bulletin Boards - Bobbie Groat and Joyce are working on a bulletin board display in the Community Classroom featuring TLLC's ministries. This classroom is used by two community groups on a weekly basis, as well as TLLC groups.
Ministry Publicity/Church Ads -The Austin American-Statesman Saturday Religion Referral ad will be changed for Thanksgiving. Council directors and ministry subcommittee chairs are requested to plan advertising activities and events 3-6 months in advance.
Photography - Next month the P.R. Committee will welcome Jeff Buchle as a member.
Visitor Information Bags -A proactive approach by both pastors at each service is encouraged. The Greeters are distributing the colorful bags to visitors. P.R. has seen a rise in the number of bags taken (i.e. 8 on November 16).
Outdoor Signage Committee - The committee is chaired by the P.R. Council Director who is working with the committee and Dick Brady of MOR Signs and Graphics. The City variance documents are being assembled (fyi: no expiration date on variance). Placement of the sign on Great Hills Trail by the committee was determined.
Other - The P.R. Committee is assembling information regarding its goals which will be submitted to the Long Range Planning Committee. Two ministry event ground signs were ordered in November. Signage was erected above the satellite Information Center near the Community Classroom. Ministry brochures (etc.) are available at this location.
Reminder: The P.R. Committee is available to assist all Council ministries (and their sub-ministries) with publicity and event planning via our Web site, The Butterfly, brochures, posters, signs, bulletin boards, etc. The Committee is available to offer ideas to assist with publicity for events and activities within our congregation. Committee meetings are the second Thursday of each month at noon.
