Camp Hope Job Descriptions

Leaders and Directors

Worship Director

Responsible for the planning and execution of Alpha and Omega worship. Communicates to rotations leaders and support staff whenever they are helping with worship.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and MC Alpha and Omega worship
  • Plan a schedule that assigns rotations leaders to lead certain aspects of worship
  • Help Rotations leaders plan their assignment if requested. (I.e. prayer ideas, going over song lyrics, ex.)
  • Make sure that worship stays focused on God and the message of Camp Hope, to create biblically literate children and youth.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 10th Grade
  • Must attend training
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Musical ability is encouraged but not required
  • Organizational skills

Small Groups Leader

Serves as leader to lead a small group of campers. Includes preparation and leadership of Bible study (Manna) and Tribe Time, participation in Games, Explore, Imagninarium, Snack, the camp store, lunch and Sabbath (quiet rest time).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads Manna (story telling) and Tribe time (relate to life) based on the curriculum
  • Shepherds their group of students from one rotation to another
  • Encourages participation in campers
  • Is responsible for behavior management of campers inside the guidelines of Camp Hope
  • Must attend morning and afternoon staff meetings
  • Is responsible for keeping room clean, organized, and prepared for the day
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship at the managers request
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 9th grade
  • Must attend training
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Explore Director

Serves as leader in designing crafts and/or science projects for each day of camp. Leads Bible study discussion and craft and/or science project for each small group through a day of Camp Hope. Help campers “explore” their faith by making something with their heads, hearts, and minds.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads crafts daily for each small group based around the curriculum
  • Encourages participation in campers
  • Is responsible for behavior management of campers inside the guidelines of Camp Hope
  • Must attend morning and afternoon staff meetings
  • Is responsible for keeping room clean, organized, and prepared for the day
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned

Qualifications:

  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged

  • Interested in making things, or creating things.

Imaginarium Director

Serves as leader in designing ways for campers to imagine themselves in and a part of the stories for the day (be that through an activity, a skit, or song). Leads Bible study discussion and music and theatrical expression for each small group through a day of Camp Hope.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads music/theatre daily for each small group based around the curriculum
  • Encourages participation in campers
  • Is responsible for behavior management of campers inside the guidelines of Camp Hope
  • Must attend morning and afternoon staff meetings
  • Is responsible for keeping room clean, organized, and prepared for the day
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 9th grade
  • Must attend training
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills
  • Theatrical background helpful
  • Plays an instrument/has vocal training

Disciple Camp Leader

Serves as leader by creating and facilitating service opportunities for campers ages 10-11. Includes preparation and leadership of Bible study (Manna) and Tribe Time, participation in games, crafts, music, snack, the camp store, lunch and quiet time (Sabbath). Also works with Manager to create a service centered experience both in the community and around camp for campers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads Manna (story telling), Tribe time (relate to life) based on the curriculum from that week of
    camp

  • Coordinates with Manager for service opportunities for campers durring the camp day onsite

Games Director

Serves as a leader in designing games for each day of camp. Leads bible study focused game play that connects to the daily story so that campers can play their way through the stories from the day.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads games for each small group based around curriculum
  • Encourages participation in campers
  • Is responsible for behavior management of campers inside the guidelines of Camp Hope
  • Must attend morning and afternoon staff meetings
  • Is responsible for keeping room clean, organized, and prepared for the day
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned

Snack Director

Serves as a leader by helping our campers make their own snack each day. Leads cooking based activities that connect to the bible story for the day so that campers of all ages can taste and see the story.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and leads snack making for each small group based on the curriculum
  • Encourages participation in campers
  • Is responsible for behavior management of campers inside the guidelines of Camp Hope
  • Must attend morning and afternoon staff meetings
  • Is responsible for keeping room clean, organized, and prepared for the day
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned

  • Enjoys cooking and eating

Media Coordinator

Take photos and videos throughout the days of Camp Hope and design a weekly newsletter for campers of the weeks activities. Put together a video to show on Sunday of the week’s activities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take photo and video throughout the day
  • Puts together slideshow for Alpha and Omega worship
  • Keeps up with social media releases throughout the day
  • Puts together a “highlight” video for sunday worship, and for Friday at the end of camp
  • Helps execute Alpha and Omega worship, at the Manager's request
  • Oversees and utilizes support staff that are assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 9th Grade

  • Must work well in groups or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills
  • Must know how to use a digital camera
  • Must be familiar with basic social media tools
  • Must be familiar with basic Powerpoint or Keynote

Junior Staff Director

Teach and mentor JSS (6th grade group) during camp teaching them the roles and responsibilities of different jobs as well as how the camp functions in general. Teach camp safety as well as full curriculum from the year. Responsible for JSS during camp, making sure they are shadowing in an effective and non-disruptive manner.

  • Responsible for teaching curriculum to JSS
  • Serve as Mentor to the JSS
  • During shadowing, still responsible for JSS but free to float and aid in other camp duties

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 11th Grade
  • Must attend training
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is highly encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Support Staff

Small Groups Support

Works in tandem with the Small Groups Leader. Facilitates the learning and fun of campers by engaging with them at a one on one level. Makes sure that the curriculum taught by the paid staff is received by the campers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Small group leaders to help them run their classroom in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Be the hands of the Small group’s leaders in classrooms and at rotations to work with kids at an individual level.
  • Not responsible for teaching curriculum directly, but should strive to help all campers learn the daily lesson.
  • Must attend afternoon staff meetings Qualifications:
  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Explore Support

Works in tandem with Explore Director to run the explore rotation for all age groups throughout the day. Helps Explore Director run the daily craft/ science experiment by working with campers at an individual level.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Explore Director to assist in keeping rotations organized, safe and productive.
  • Between rotations assist the Explore Director in setting up for the next age group
  • Not responsible for teaching curriculum directly, but should strive to help all campers learn the daily lesson
  • Help keep explore room clean whenever possible

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Imaginarium Support

Works in tandem with the Imaginarium Director. Acts and sets the example for acting out bible stories Helps Imaginarium Director teach curriculum by helping campers to remain focused at an individual level.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Imaginarium Director to assist in keeping rotations organized, safe and productive
  • Between rotations, assist the Imaginarium director in setting up for the next age group
  • Demonstrate being outgoing to camper to make them less nervous about acting out daily stories.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Disciple Camp Support

Works in tandem with the Disciple camp leader. Helps Disciple camp leader safely and effectively lead outings and instill the values of community in campers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Disciple Camp Leader to help them run their classroom in a safe and efficient manner
  • Work with the Disciple Camp Leader to keep field trips safe and productive
  • Not responsible for teaching curriculum directly, but should strive to help all campers learn the daily lesson

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Organizational skills

Games Support

Works in tandem with the Games Director. Facilitates the learning of campers by interacting with them on an individual level.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Games director to assist in keeping rotations organized, safe and productive
  • Between rotations assist the Games director in setting up for the next age group
  • Not responsible for teaching curriculum directly, but should strive to help all campers learn the daily lesson
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and a positive attitude

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Athletic ability is encouraged but not required
  • Organizational skills

Snack Support

Works in tandem with the Snack Director. Keeps kitchen in running order during spare time. Helps Snacks director teach the bible story by providing an example for the campers to look up to.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Snack director to assist in keeping rotations organized, safe and productive
  • Between rotations, assist the Snack Director in setting up for the next age group
  • Not responsible for teaching curriculum directly, but should strive to help all campers learn the daily lesson
  • Persistently work to keep the kitchen clean and snacks lined up and ready to go for the next rotations group.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed 7th Grade
  • Must attend one of two offered trainings
  • Interest or care for children
  • Must work well in groups, or teams
  • Creativity is encouraged
  • Cooking experience is encouraged but not required.
