Provide the congregation an opportunity to honor, celebrate, and memorialize loved ones and events through donations to the Endowment and the Memorials/Honoraria Fund and to reach out to those in need through grants to non-profit organizations.
“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God” 2 Corinthians 9:10.
What is the TLLC Endowment?
The Endowment is a special fund established to provide a permanent source of income in perpetuity. Donations are a way for individuals to give special, permanent gifts dedicated to the work of the church. This fund is used for grants alone and is not used to support the general budget or operating expenses of the church. Donors can make gifts to the Endowment in honor or memory of a loved one, in celebration of occasions, by naming TLLC as owner of life insurance policies, or through other personal commitments. The generosity of contributors to the Endowment allows lives to be touched, not only in Austin, but throughout the world. The grateful responses received from the recipients affirm the impact.
It differs from other church Funds in that it is permanent fund that is invested. Up to 5% of the Endowment is made available for grants each year.
Endowment Committee members include Dave Blockhus, Joe Copeland, Rosanna Garry, Greg Hilton, Diane Pilat, Joel Reed, Deborah Rosenquist (chair), and Mark Stuckey (treasurer). Any TLLC member with an interest in serving on the Endowment Committee may contact Deborah for additional information.
Memorials and Honoraria:
The purpose of Memorials and Honoraria Fund committee is to ensure that all memorial and honoraria gifts received are used to serve the mission of the church. This committee is responsible for creating a Needs List of items that can be donated as memorials or honoraria, publicizing memorials opportunities to the congregation through the newsletter, accepting donations to the Memorials and Honoraria Fund, and other memorials and honoraria tasks. The Needs List contains items identified by TLLC staff and Church Council members that are needed by their ministries, but are extra-budgetary items and, therefore, are dependent on special gifts. This list is prioritized and funded as undesignated gifts are received, although designated gifts are often made that cover the entire cost of an item on the list. However, funds earmarked for the development of the Resurrection Garden may be made in any amount in memory or honor of a person.
Memorials and Honoraria Committee members include Anne Anderson, Chip Groat, Diane Pilat, and Ellen Welker (chair)
Firnhaber Seminary Education Fund (FSEF).
History and Purpose:
In April of 2011, the TLLC Endowment Committee created a new fund dedicated to the education of seminarians in honor of Pastor Norb Firnhaber. Pastor Firnhaber retired in June 2011 after ten years as Triumphant Love Lutheran Church’s senior pastor. This fund operates within the Endowment as a dedicated fund committed to providing scholarships and other support for individual seminary students and providing resources to seminaries to support the mission of theological education. more…
