We are church: As we gather around word and sacraments (baptism & communion), this life in Christ is what defines, shapes, and guides us as a community of faith, the church.
We are Lutheran: We are a church that walks by faith, trusting God’s promises of grace, love, and mercy in the gospel, and knowing that we exist by and for the proclamation of this good news. We proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and raised from the dead for the life of the world.
We are church together: Just as God has joined us to Christ in baptism, we are also joined to others, not only in the ELCA and The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), but in all communities of Christian faith around the world. We seek full participation of all in the life and work of this church by striving to address the ways that racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of injustice limit participation and harm people, communities, and the whole body of Christ. We seek to be a place committed to racial, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, and class equity. Our community is working so that all who are here have access to each other, the ministry, and the love of Christ
We are church for the sake of the world: Freed by the transformative life of Christ, we support members as they give themselves freely in transforming service with the neighbor. Through a wide range of daily vocations and ministries, we nurture faith, build alliances, and gather resources for a healed, reconciled and just world.
As a part of the ELCA, TLLC is part of the Southwestern Texas Synod (swtsynod.org) one of 65 synods within the ELCA. The Synod covers a wide area spanning from almost the western edge of Texas to just north of Austin and down south to the tip of Texas. There are 130 congregations in 8 conferences with over 250 rostered leaders (pastors & deacons). In our synod we believe that God’s grace transforms and connects us to learn, to love, to lead.
As a part of our larger ELCA partnerships, we are a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. We are living out our belief of embracing all with unconditional love by being a place of belonging.
Triumphant Love Lutheran Church believes that God’s love surpasses all. We are an open and inviting congregation. We welcome God’s children of all ages, abilities, family structures, gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, races and ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic status. We are building an affirming and inclusive community with those who believe, doubt, question, seek, and wonder. Everyone is unique, beloved by God, and worthy of a place to belong.
This commitment has lead us to be constantly evaluating our accessibility, our leadership, and our partnerships with the larger community. We are constantly working to lower barriers so that everyone at TLLC has access to each other, the ministry, and the love of Christ.
