Beliefs & Values

Triumphant Love Lutheran Church is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with about 4 million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the ELCA

We are church: As we gather around word and sacraments (baptism & communion), this life in Christ is what defines, shapes and guides us as a community of faith, the church.

Word and Sacrament
Luthers Rose

We are Lutheran: We are a church that walks by faith, trusting God’s promises of grace, love and mercy in the gospel, and knowing that we exist by and for the proclamation of this good news. We proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and raised from the dead for the life of the world.

We are church together: Just as God has joined us to Christ in baptism, we are also joined to others, not only in the ELCA and The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), but in all communities of Christian faith around the world. We seek full participation of all in the life and work of this church and we strive to address the ways that racism, sexism, classism and other forms of injustice limit participation and harm people, communities, and the whole body of Christ.

People Church
World

We are church for the sake of the world: Freed by the transformative life of Christ, we support members as they give themselves freely in transforming service with the neighbor. Through a wide range of daily vocations and ministries, we nurture faith, build alliances and gather resources for a healed, reconciled and just world.

As a part of the ELCA, TLLC is part of the Southwestern Texas Synod (swtsynod.org) one of 65 synods within the ELCA. The Synod covers a wide area spanning from almost the western edge of Texas to just north of Austin and down south to the tip of Texas. There are 130 congregations in 8 conferences with over 250 rostered leaders (pastors & deacons). In our synod we believe that God’s grace transforms and connects us to learn, to love, to lead. TLLC Ministry Tree isolated

To flesh out this mission, our ministry is now energized around a multi-year vision: Growing a Generous Faith.

Deepening Engagement: Growing visitors to members, members to leader, and neighbors to friends

Forming Faith: Developing faith roots through basic Bible study and Lutheran foundations as well as bearing faith fruit through studies that challenge assumptions and service that puts our faith in action

Strengthening Stewardship: Increasing generosity at TLLC & beyond as we use the gifts God has first given us – our time, talents, and treasure – for the sake of the world
