We kicked off this year’s celebration of the Season of Creation by leading a guided tour of the TLLC Nature Trail with the Child Development Center’s pre-K class (aka the penguins).

The children learned about preparing for a hike, protecting all things in nature, including themselves, and carefully observing the various forms of life in the woods.

They learned some fun facts – yellow butterflies are attracted to yellow flowers, fireflies lay their eggs under decomposing leaves and bark, and why some mushrooms grow on tree stumps.

The tour ended with a mandala created with donated seashells left in the nature center play and build area.

We had so much fun we will do it again in a few months, to see what’s new and interesting on the TLLC Nature Trail. Thank you to eight volunteers who prepared the trail in advance, making it safe for the 4 and 5 year olds.
