Join us as we tear up and burn up the mortgage this Sunday and give thanks to the retirement of our multi-million dollar building debt! We will have a special liturgy at both services and breakfast with festivities in the 10:00 hour. When we think of the word “church” something like this picture of our own church building often first springs to mind especially as we pause to celebrate the retirement of the debt that made it possible. If we look closely, we realize that the texts speak not about buildings but about us – God’s people. 1 Peter, in particular, reminds us that we are living stones sent to proclaim Christ—our Cornerstone! Given all that, when we think of the word “church” perhaps we would do better to picture something like this:

As we celebrate the retirement of this substantial debt and rededicate our church building this Sunday, let us also rededicate ourselves to sharing the good news of Christ our Cornerstone! As we rededicate our church building this Sunday, let us also rededicate ourselves to our mission: Inspire people to live boldly in God’s triumphant love.
