When we think of Pentecost, we often call to mind the familiar and powerful story from Acts – complete with tongues of fire, violent winds, many languages, and Peter boldly proclaiming God’s power and the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to propel these disciples into the world. Yet, each year on Pentecost, we also hear other scriptures alongside this one from Acts – none quiet so dramatic, yet each equally important.
