On the 25th anniversary of the ELCA in 2013, church leaders decided (and I would say rightly so) that the best way to celebrate was not to simply give ourselves a party or a pat on the back but rather to serve our neighbor. That year, “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday began, and it has become a yearly tradition for the thousands of congregations across the ELCA, including Triumphant Love. We invite you to join us in serving this year as we celebrate on Sunday, September 26th. See below to learn more about TLLC projects or just find a way to serve on your own with your gifts. It has occurred to me multiple times throughout the pandemic that our need for social distancing to maintain physical health has negatively impacted our mental and spiritual health. One main reason, I think, is because we haven’t been able to serve others the way we are used to doing. Despite needing to be physically distanced God still needs our hands at work in the world and our spirits need to serve… so Let’s Serve Today!
The scriptures for this Sunday are Psalm 54, James 3: 13-4:3, 7-8, and Mark 9:30-37. Songs for this Sunday are #641 “All Are Welcome” vs. 1, 2 & 5, #659 “Will You Let Me Be Your Servant” and #538 “The Lord Now Sends Us Forth”. We give thanks to this week’s Worship Leaders, Production Crew, Musicians, and Deacon Bri!
