For the past 3 weeks, members of TLLC have graciously given up their entire Saturday to work in a concession stand at the home UT Football games. Why you ask? Because they are part of a fundraising program at UT which allows non-profits to earn a percentage of the sales on event concessions. This is not easy work! You have to arrive 5 hours prior to the game kick off and stay about an hour after the game is over while standing on your feet the entire time. It can be really hot especially in the early weeks of the season. Fans are excited and want their food/drinks quickly so you have to work fast.
Much to our great appreciation, there have been several volunteers from TLLC who are not youth students or their parents! We have spanned 3 generations of TLLC members several of whom did not know each other prior to signing up to volunteer.
In a time when new relationships have been difficult to cultivate, we have been doing it in front of a hotdog grill, between soda fountains, inside walk in refrigerators, and politely asking for generous tips from behind a register! Everyone with the same goal to make the 2022 National Youth Gathering a financial possibility for all our youth at TLLC.
