Reign of Christ Sunday

Christ the king mosaic

Even after Israel had experienced the vagaries of kings, the people still longed for a true king to set things right. He would have the king’s title of Anointed One (Messiah); he would be the “one like a human being” (Son of Man) given dominion in Daniel’s vision. Jesus is given these titles, even though he is nothing like an earthly king. In our gospel text from John, Jesus is juxtaposed with Pilate. His authority comes from the truth to which he bears witness, and those who recognize the truth voluntarily listen to him. We look forward to the day he is given dominion, knowing his victory will be the nonviolent victory of love. Join us for this Christ the King/Reign of Christ Sunday as Pastor Armin leads us to ask ourselves, “Which Is Your King”?”

The scriptures for this Reign of Christ Sunday are Psalm 93, Revelation 1:4-8, and John 18:33-37.  Songs for this Sunday are #408 “Come, Thou Almighty King”, #439 “Soon and Very Soon”, and #434 “Jesus Shall Reign” vs. 1-3. We give thanks to this week’s Worship Leaders, Production Crew, Musicians, and Pastor Armin!
