Serving God, Saving the Planet, from Dr. Matthew Sleeth, a small group Bible study that provides simple, everyday ways to focus on stewardship and sustainability according to Scripture.
Serving God, Saving the Planet is an experience that broadens the conversation with an emphasis on the dangers of materialism, workaholism, and spiritual bankruptcy―as well as God’s endless invitations for us to enjoy what God has created.
High School/Adults welcome to join this class.
The topics and discussions in this class pair nicely with our newly formed Care of Creation Team which will meet monthly on the 4th Saturdays at 1:30pm where we will put into action the call of caring for creation. Join us for one or both!
Weekly Topics
March 6: Soil
This week in our Serving God/Saving the Planet series we will be exploring the topic of “Soil.” We will take a look at Matthew 13:1-23 (The Parable of the Sower) and talking about how we can be “good soil.”
March 13: No class due to Spring Break
March 20: Heavens
In this session of Serving God/Saving the Planet we will discuss the heavenly bodies that provide rhythm to our days and seasons. We will explore some Biblical passages related to the power and limitlessness of God that can be witnessed in the night sky.
March 27: Animals
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you;
the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you;

This week we will explore the things we learn from animals and how we can best care for God’s creatures.
