Silent Nights…Holy Lights – Advent 2023

Advent 2023

Begins December 3

In the midst of the busyness during the holidays, it is easy to forget that these are holy days. Our Advent theme – Silent Nights, Holy Lights – reminds us to set aside time on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights to light the Advent candles and reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love of the season. Join us for these special services as we prepare to welcome the birth of Jesus into our world and into our hearts as we make our way to that “Silent Night” that made shepherds quake and heav’nly hosts sing. This year, we give thanks for that silent, holy night that wrapped the whole world in love’s pure light.

Children’s Devotion

In the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations, even children can get overwhelmed.  A special devotion just for them offers a quiet moment for their own Silent Nights & Holy Lights.  With this devotion, children can create their own Advent Wreath centerpiece as we all count down the days until Jesus’ birthday together!

The rhyming devotions in the sticker booklet add to the excitement and anticipation by retelling the Biblical account of the prophets, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and wise men and the Bethlehem angels. Each Sunday, a flame-shaped sticker is added to one of the four Advent candles, brightening the Christmas countdown with an attractive Advent Wreath centerpiece to enjoy all season long.

Adult Devotion

In the midst of the busyness during the holidays, it is easy to forget that these are holy days.  Our Advent theme – Silent Nights, Holy Lights – reminds us to set aside time on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights to light the Advent candles and reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love of the season. This year’s daily devotion for Advent will help us do that together.

As we remember that the light of grace is coming to greet us in this Advent season, we take time in silence and in light to ponder the gift of God’s Son, Jesus, born on Christmas. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” these devotions enlighten the heart, mind and soul with the Good News that the Light of the World graces us with his presence not just at Christmas but every day of our lives.
