Join us this Sunday as we give thanks for the service of Carl Teinert at both services.
For the past 13 years, TLLC’s own Carl Teinert has served as Southwestern Texas Synod Council Vice President. This is the highest office for a lay person in our synod to hold, and Carl has led us well and faithfully through good and difficult times, taking the reins amidst the contentious 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly vote on Human Sexuality that caused many congregations to exit our synod. Former Bishop, Rev. Ray Tiemann had this to say about him: “Carl has always had a deep faith that is exhibited in a sense of justice for all people. He is a loyal, enthusiastic, and generous supporter of synod and churchwide ministries.”
Carl will conclude his service officially in August, ending his term by serving an extra year to see us through an unprecedented pandemic! In his official recognition at this year’s Synod Assembly, Bishop Sue Briner said, “Carl has often given wise counsel to me as I know he has to my predecessor. He has encouraged us all to grow in our faith and to reach out to our neighbors. He has been vulnerable with us by sharing his own growth of his understanding of racism and his passion for that work as well.” A special gift was given by the synod to ELCA World Hunger, a cause close to Carl’s heart.
We are thankful to you, Carl, for the good and faithful work you have done, and for the good and faithful servant you have been!
