Come and See

Lamb of God John Verse

The time after Epiphany invites us to “come and see” who this one born in a manger will be, and to discover what he might mean for us and for the world. Today’s gospel opens with further reflection on Jesus’ baptism. He is “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” In the gospel, neither John nor Andrew can contain their testimony about who Jesus is. They have had an encounter with Christ that has had such an impact on their lives that they cannot help but tell others about it, inviting them to “come and see” for themselves. In the liturgy we meet the Lamb of God in word and sacrament, and then we go forth to invite others to come and see for themselves. This Sunday, Deacon Bri reminds us of this important call we share.
