God has planted a garden, expecting justice, but finds bloodshed instead (Isaiah 5). The lessons from the Hebrew Scriptures and the Gospel of Matthew today invite the congregation into a process of self-examination, confession, and repentance. Then in the writing of Paul in Philippians, we are assured that our penitent posture will be met with overflowing grace from God, who chooses us first and inspires us to follow in the ways of the living Christ. It might be crazy… or perhaps it’s crazy love.
