New Life Children’s Center is a home for abused and/or neglected girls. New Life is part of Upbring, a non-profit organization, which promotes and provides a number of social services to improve children’s wellbeing, such as adoption, foster families, refugee support, disaster relief, etc.
New Life is a 24/7 home for girls between the ages of 11 – 17 who have survived extraordinarily hard circumstances. The girls are given attention and loving care including intense therapy, an education, structured recreation, spiritual care, and preparation for adult living. The average stay at New Life for a girl is 6 to 8 months, during which time she can heal and feel a restored sense of hope in her future.
For our Service Project this year, as in many years in the past, the Mary Martha Friendship Group chose to help the girls at New Life. New Life asked that we provide gift cards. Each girl will receive a gift card for Christmas, and all the other gift cards will be used directly by or for the girls throughout the year.
Members donated $25 gift cards from WalMart, HEB, Starbucks, and Target. The gift cards totaled more than $2,000! They were taken to New Life where we received A HUGE thank you by the girls and staff at New Life!
