Measure of Greatness: The Great Commandment

July 21, 2024 – Week 2

We often define success, not with biblical models, or spiritual models, but worldly models. A successful person is someone who has a lot of money, a big house, an expensive car. I’m sure you could name a few other successful goals. The Great Commandment defines how God sees success. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. The second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love defines success. John Maxwell said, “Success is when those nearest and dearest to you love and respect you.”  Love defines success. That is why the Great  Commandment is so important. God not only wants you to know you are loved, he also wants you to know that you share his love by loving others. Maybe now would be a good time to sing to yourself and/or others, “What the world needs now is love, sweet love.”
