What better way to start Memorial Day weekend than to first, celebrate the men and women who have served, and given their lives, for us!
Second, celebrating and serving Young Adults with our annual Sunset Dinner!
On May 21st, Triumphant Love held its 4th Sunset Dinner for Young Adults. And true to the name, we delivered a sunset! Okay, we were safely set up in the Fellowship Hall as the storm roared outside. A real downpour. Amazingly, at 8:15 as the skies calmed down, we caught the advertised sunset!!
And with all four dinners, we have had a glorious success with the true purpose of the meal. Young adults gathering for dinner and fellowship. There were young people taking a break from the path they are forging here in Austin, college students home for the summer, engaged couples, and newly weds. The din of laughter and conversation was so enjoyable.
As the young people enjoyed dinner, the adult volunteers had fun setting up indoors to create the intimate setting. It was a scene from one of Austin’s finest restaurants. Live music, a bar to meet everyone’s taste, wait staff who were all smiles, and chefs who were knocking it out in the kitchen. Let it be known that these volunteers are professionals!
Did we just mention chefs, the kitchen? As the young adults waited to be served, the aromas and sounds coming from the kitchen filled the space. The menu still makes my mouth water, and for good reason! Smoke brisket with oak, hickory, maple, and cherry, Franklin style! Smoked chicken with a butter, thyme, and sage rub! Vegetarian stuffed bell peppers! All of that was backed up by a mixed salad, cajun dirty rice, pinto beans, fresh baked rolls, and homemade butters and sauces! Not enough?! Right, the finishing touch was homemade lemon bars, brownies, and cheesecake. Alrighty!
Put it on your calendars now! The 2027 5th Annual Young Adult Sunset Dinner is already in the works. Where else can you go for the 3Fs, Friends, Fellowship, and Food, but right here at Triumphant Love on the deck! See you next May!
